 OHSAA PHYSICAL PAPER –MUST BE FILLED OUT COMPLETELY (PLEASE GET FORM FROM US)  INSURANCE WAIVER MUST BE COMPLETED  EMERGENCY MEDICAL FORM-FILLED OUT COMPLETELY AND THE COACH KEEPS THIS FORM  CODE OF CONDUCT – FOUND AT THE END OF THE STUDENT ATHLETE HANDBOOK  TRANSPORTATION REQUEST-PLEASE SEND A NOTE SIGNED BY YOU AT LEAST ONE DAY IN ADVANCE-DAY OF THE GAME MAY BE TOO LATE AS WE ARE NOT ALWAYS IN THE OFFICE- ATHLETES CAN ONLY RIDE HOME WITH THEIR PARENTS

 COACH – PLEASE SPEAK TO THE COACH FIRST WITH CONCERNS (MANY ISSUES CAN BE RESOLVED AT THIS LEVEL) (USING THE EXCUSE THAT YOU BELIEVE THE COACH WILL “TAKE IT OUT” ON YOUR CHILD IS NOT A REASON TO SKIP THIS STEP)  ATHLETIC DIRECTOR – IF DISCUSSING THE ISSUES WITH THE COACH DID NOT BRING ABOUT A RESOLUTION THEN CONTACT THE AD  BUILDING PRINCIPAL – THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR WILL CONTACT THE BUILDING PRINCIPAL IF THERE IS STILL NO RESOLUTION  SUPERINTENDENT – THE PRINCIPAL AND ATHLETIC DIRECTOR WILL CONTACT AND SET UP MEETING

 PHISOPHY OF THE COACH  TEAM RULES AND CONSEQUENCES  LOCATIONS AND TIMES OF PRACTICES AND CONTESTS  DISCIPLINE ISSUES  EXPECTATIONS  HOW AND WHEN TO CONTACT THE COACH WITH PROBLEMS

 THE TREATMENT OF YOUR CHILD VERBALLY AND PHYSICALLY  CONCERNS ABOUT YOUR CHILD’S BEHAVIOR

 PLAYING TIME (MEETING OR CONVERSATION WILL END AT THIS POINT)  TEAM STRATEGY  PLAY CALLING  OTHER STUDENT ATHLETES  SPECIAL AWARDS OR HONORS

 CALL COACH TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT  DO NOT CONFRONT A COACH BEFORE OR AFTER A CONTEST OR PRACTICE

 PLEASE DISCUSS THE TIMES AND LOCATIONS OF ALL PRACTICES, CONTESTS AND BUS TIMES  LET YOUR CHILD KNOW THAT WIN OR LOSE, YOU LOVE THEM,APPRECIATE THEIR EFFORTS AND ARE NOT DISAPPOINTED IN THEM. THIS WILL ALLOW THEM TO DO THEIR BEST WITHOUT FEAR OF FAILURE

 DON’T COMPARE SKILL,COURAGE OR ATTITUDE OF YOUR CHILD WITH OTHER MEMBERS OF THE TEAM  TRY TO BE REALISTIC ABOUT YOUR CHILD’S ABILITIES  TRY NOT TO RELIVE YOUR ATHLETIC LIFE THROUGH YOUR CHILD  DON’T COMPETE WITH THE COACH. IF YOUR CHILD IS RECEIVING MIXED MESSAGES FROM TWO DIFFERENT AUTHORITY FIGURES, THEY WILL LIKELY BECOME DISENCHANTED

 ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT CHILDREN SOMETIMES EXAGGERATE, BOTH WHEN PRAISED AND CRITICIZED. TEMPER YOUR REACTION BEFORE YOU BECOME INVOLVED  WHEN APPROPRIATE, ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILD TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE COACH WHEN PROBLEMS OCCUR BEFORE YOU BECOME INVOLVED  IF PLAYING TIME IS AN ISSUE, ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILD TO TALK TO THE COACH ABOUT WHAT THEY CAN DO TO EARN MORE PLAYING TIME, REMEMBER IT IS NOT APPRORIATE FOR PARENT TO DISCUSS PLAYING TIME WITH THE COACH

 SPORTSMANSHIP IS AN EXPECTATION AT McClain  LET THE PLAYERS PLAY  LET THE COACHES COACH  LET THE OFFICIALS OFFICIATE  BE POSITIVE WITH COMMENTS – DO NOT “BOO” OR “HECKLE’ THE ATHLETES, COACHES, OFFICIALS OR OPPPOSING FANS  WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REMOVE ANYONE FROM CONTESTS AND CAN ALSO KEEP PEOPLE OUT FOR UP TO A YEAR
