What is an SLO? A measurable, long-term, academic target set by an individual teacher or a teacher team A learning target that demonstrates a teacher’s impact on student learning within a given interval of instruction

How do SLOs fit into OTES?

SLO Evaluation Cycle August 28-September 20 Students Assessed on SLO’s September 21- October 3 BLT’s approve and submit to principal October Centralized Random Grading of Assessments by Scoring Team comprised of instructional coaches October Final approval of SLO November 1-February 27 Progress Monitoring of SLO achievement by principals March 10-21K-8 Spring SLO Assessment April 11 Assessments Graded, done, and turned in to TS’s April 28-May 1 All score submissions reported to the state

Assessment Considerations Assessments should cover key subject and grade-level content standards. No items, questions, or prompts should cover standards that the course does not address. The assessment structure should mirror the distribution of teaching time devoted to course content. The cognitive demand of the assessment should match the full range of cognitive thinking required during the course.

Assessment Checklist Is the assessment aligned with the content and skills covered in the course? Does this assessment measure what it intends to measure? Are scoring procedures in place? How and when will the assessment be administered? Based on student baseline data, will all students be able to demonstrate growth on this assessment? Will this assessment be fair to all students, including students with disabilities, English Language Learners, and gifted?
