Setting This story takes place mostly at a gulf cottage in Maine. This gulf cottage just so happened to be next to this mysterious lake. And it is very rainy up there a lot of insects and it is just very gloomy. This story takes placed around the 1980’s-90’s.

Characters Emma: Dulcie’s little girl. She is sweet,short, and jolly. I would assume she is around the age of 5. Dulcie: A skinny, tall, scrawny, and curly haired mid age lady and she is Ali’s aunt. She is very cheerful and always has a smile in her face. Claire: She would be Ali’s mom. She always has pains and is always angry with the world. Then it doesn't say but I assume that she her appearance is like her sister’s Dulcie. Ali: This is a very adventurous tall and pretty little girl around the age of 12. Sissy: A very mysterious little girl with a wicked mind she is very tall skinny and pale.

Problem There are a lot of problems in this story and one of the main ones would be that Ali ( the main character in the story) finds a torn picture with her mom and aunt and this other girl but that part is torn and she asks her mom and she freaks out and doesn't say anything. Another problem is that she arrives at this lake and it this girl there and she is really mean to her for some weird reason and she is using this little girl named Emma for her own benefit. And lastly would be the fact that Emma this little girl ends up having these weird dreams about some one drowning in the lake near by and bones at the bottom and how some one that she knows did this to this person but she is not for sure who did it.

Resolution Ali this little girl who has been wondering who is this girl in the picture and why this other girl is being so mean to he finally finds out what happened when her mom was a little girl and what she did and all that good stuff. She also find out who t was in the picture that she found that her mom freaked put about.

My opinion Ok my opinion of this story was that it was fantastic because it had that mystery that pulls you to find out what is going to happen next and if you are like me you would love this book just for that reason also there is a ghost how cool is that this book is like my dream book ever since some one told me about this book I have probably read it about 25 times it is just a really good book.

About the author She bases her settings mostly on her home town of Maryland. She has another job relating to being an author and that would be going to different schools talking about being an author and her books. This author has written well over twenty novels all ready. Mary was born on December 9, She is known mostly by her ghost books has won several awards.

Questions Why do you think the mom freaked about the picture that Ali found? Why did it freak Ali out when Emma was telling her about her bad dreams about bones and when she saw her paintings? What did the mom do? Was it really the mom’s fault about what happened a long time ago? Why do you think that the ghost is being so mean to Ali?

Summary There is a little girl named Ali with a freaky mom she is always stressed and everything. What she did not know was that her mom had and big secret that she had kept that had been haunting her every since childhood. When Ali arrives at the lake far away from home and when she first gets there she thought she was going to have a blast, but all of that changes when this girl names sissy comes along. This little girl also has secrets of her own. Later on that she finds out the horrible secret that her mother has been keeping from her all these years. It turns out she found out right in time for some one was seeking ravage and planned to get it the only thing is instead of the mom Ali might have been the one to pay the price for her mother’s mistake.
