Addition Facts Part = = 12

Objective l To learn the strategies and patterns for adding sums to 20.

Addition Facts are easiest to learn when... l You find patterns. l You use rhymes. l You use strategies. l You relate them to what you already know.

Doubles 1 eye + 1 = 2 eyes Use 2 eyes to make you wise

2 tires + 2 = 4 of a car With 4 tires a car can go far

3 corners of a triangle + 3 corners of a triangle = 6 points of a star, that can be seen from afar

4 legs + 4 = 8 of a spider 8 legs makes the spider much wider

5 fingers + 5 = 10 fingers 10 fingers that wiggle will make you giggle

6 eggs + 6 = 12 eggs or 1 dozen I think I’ll eat an omelet with my cousin

7 days + 7 = 14 days, 2 weeks, or a fortnight. We went on vacation for a fortnight. It was quite a sight SunMonTueWedThuFriSat

8 ounces + 8 = 16 ounces or 1 pound. I bought a pound of bubble gum and blew until I was numb Bubblegum 1 pound 16 ounces

9 holes + 9 = 18 hole golf course. Count the poles in the holes to make sure it’s 18 holes

10 dollars + 10 dollars = 20 dollars. I’ll holler if you don’t give me my dollar
