Framing The Session Do you know anyone who has a real messy desktop and they can’t find their work The more information you gather in your computer requires more organization of your digital resources and materials. In this session I will show you how to keep your resources well organized so that you can help other students and teachers to organize their files. You will learn how to organize your computer so it is easier to find files and downloads.

Work Time

Getting Started Now that you have seen how to organize your files and folders it’s time to get started and organize your laptop.

Work Time Break into your designated groups. Create subject area folders for each of your classes and other folders for miscellaneous documents that are currently saved on your computers. Make sure to name the folders as they are created. Drag documents, pictures and other material into the folders. If you have a flash drive you can work on organizing those files as well

Share

During your work time you created folders, organized your files and saved new documents into your folders. At this time we will share some of our ideas and discuss how this exercise will be helpful to us when helping others to organize their laptops. We will look at how a few of you have organized your “My Documents” folder into specific folders and subfolders and organized your documents in them Share

What did you do? Share

How does this work address the questions that began the session? Did you learn how to create an organization system for your digital documents? Can you show someone how to do this? Was it difficult to do? What problems did you encounter?
