Quick Prospectus & Abstract Presentation Template By Jeremy Lewis, Huntingdon College Spring 2014

Nature of the issue examined Why is it challenging Why it is important How it can be approached or studied

This project will explore… 3 or 4 phenomena: elections or institutions or countries or political parties or bureaucracies 2 theories that contrast and will be tested in the light of historical or comparative examples But is limited to three decades /economic cycles/ election cycles

Literature survey These authors argue one way: – Alpha (1789) – Bravo (1812) – Charlie (1923) The authors argue the other way: – Delta (1989) – Echo (1996) – Foxtrot (2003)

My data being gathered Type of data Where it can be found Main books found so far

Expected Findings Alpha theory is not confirmed by historical data Bravo theory is supported by comparative data Of the three Republican presidencies we have compared, two were more successful in foreign than in domestic policy; the third was in office during a threat that was economic rather than national security. Of the 3 health care systems contrasted, the two national systems were 40% cheaper than the US.

Major sources (only) Alpha The Quest for Human Knowledge. Bravo Desperate to Learn. Charlie Thirsty to Understand. Delta Wrong on the Facts. Echo What is Politics, Anyway? Foxtrot Hopelessly lost in Library.
