Summary  This book is about a girl name Bird, it takes place in World War ll.Her dad is her only friend. She loves airplanes, but the P-40 is her favorite. One day her dad has to go fight in World War II. At school she gets bullied by Farley Peck. One day the teacher says : “Class today we have a new student Kenji.” Once Kenji comes in the classroom, the class quickly relies that Kenji is a Jap-. Once as Bird was wondering in the bay, she heard noises so she hided under Father Krauss’s boat. Then she saw Kenji running away from Farley. So she quickly screamed and did signs at Kenji. Kenji quickly understood and came in the boat. They quickly took off. After in the boat, Bird told to Kenji the story about the Genny. Which is :”A long time ago the Genny used to catch all the fishes even if they were to small she would never throw them back in the lake, the fishermen were tired because they never would catch any fishes. Once the fishermen went at the Genny’s house they rapped her in a blanket and threw her in the lake. She died !!!!! The legend started : in the night the Genny would come out and eat all the fishes.” At a moment the boat started moving. Bird and Kenji were screaming. They got off the boat. Bird was sure that it was the Genny but it wasn’t!!!!! It was a submarine!!!!! They were sure it was a spy. Another day on they went in the forest and they saw Farley’s dad for some reason Farley’s dad wasn’t at war. Farley and Bird made a deal he would not annoy her if she didn’t tell it to anyone. That’s when Bird and Kenji started being friends. Few days later they decided to go back to the bay and find out if it was a spy or not. They went in the bay when it was night they had a camera for proof and fireworks for light. Kenji went on a side and Bird went on another side of the bay. Bird saw Father Krauss’s boat upside down so she lifted the boat when she saw an dead body it was Farley’s dad. Then a guy in black chased her she was screaming more than ever she bitted him and went off. Read to find who’s the black man.
