 Personal Development Plan  SMART objectives  Specific  Measurable  Attainable  Relevant  Time based  When to do them:  Start of each job  When new learning needs arise  Make sure you complete them

Learning Logs

 Aim for 2-3 per week  Reflect  What you learned  How you felt  How this will change your practice  What further learning needs this episode has identified  Save regularly  Can start and come back before sharing  Try to fit to the curriculum and competencies  Comment on logs afterwards to complete the learning cycle

 WPBAs (work placed based assessments)  Check minimum requirements for each 6 months  3 Mini CEx / COT  3 CBD  1 MSF  1 CSR  1 PSQ when in general practice  CEPS as appropriate  Send tickets or direct access to fill in

Review Preparation  Every 6 months  November and May  Link evidence to the competencies  Complete self rating  Meet with educational supervisor  Used for ARCP in June each year

 Tips  Ask your educational supervisor to ‘release’ the review early  Read through what the competencies involve  Remind your clinical or educational supervisor to link your learning logs to competencies  Leave plenty of time for writing your self rating

General E-portfolio Advice  Get to know your portfolio  Stay up to date  Start now  Balance between quality and quantity  Discuss it with each other  Learn to jump through the hoops  Try and make it useful for you  Look at the RCGP website for links to the curriculum, WPBA info etc
