Sunday evening

WE COME TO GOD IN PRAYER I call to you, Lord, come quickly to me. Hear me when I call to you. May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice. Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

WE PRAY PSALM 146 Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save. When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing. Praise the Lord, my soul.

Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God. He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them – he remains faithful forever. Praise the Lord, my soul.

He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets prisoners free, the Lord gives sight to the blind, the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down, the Lord loves the righteous. Praise the Lord, my soul.

GOD SPEAKS TO US Plant your word in us, that we bear much fruit to your glory.

(see daily Bible reading guide, or other Bible reading)

WE CONFESS OUR FAITH

(Apostles’ Creed, scriptural song, or other hymn/song)

WE PRAY FOR OURSELVES AND THE WORLD We have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus. Let us draw near to God in prayer. Holy God: hear our prayer.

We praise you, holy God, that you have watched over us today: forgive us when we have not feared, loved or trusted you as we ought. Holy God: hear our prayer. All creation rightly praises you: keep your church in true faith, in godly worship, and in the joy of your Son’s resurrection. Holy God: hear our prayer.

Thank you for the peace that passes all understanding: bring your peace to those who live in conflict and help us to forgive each other. Holy God: hear our prayer. You are the God of all comfort: console those who weep or grieve this night and show them your compassion in the face of Christ. Holy God: hear our prayer.

(Other prayers may follow)

Almighty God, grant that the words which we have heard with our ears may, through your grace, be so grafted in our hearts that they produce in us the fruit of good lives, to the honour and praise of your name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

WE PRAY THE LORD’S PRAYER

GOD BLESSES US The grace of God that offers salvation to all people has appeared. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all. Amen.
