Study of Vitis sylvestris germplasm (WP 4) Coordinator: J. Eiras-Dias National Station of Viticulture and Enology Dois Portos (PORTUGAL)

Summarizing all the work to be done  Identification of wild Vitis silvestris sites in the different European countries.  Characterization of population features.  Definition of vine sampling for morphological description.  Description of vines: morphological and agronomical evaluation.

Work to be done in the first year  Protocol for the inventory of V. sylvestris (D16).  First list of sites with V. sylvestris plants and their status for protection.

'Protocol for the inventory of V. sylvestris'  Identification of wild Vitis sylvestris sites in the different European countries.  Evaluation of preservation status.  Inventory of the specimen at the locations.

Identification of wild Vitis silvestris sites  1. Institute code  3. Population number  13. Country of origin  14. Location of population site  15. Latitude of population site  16. Longitude of population site  17. Elevation of population site  29. Decoded institute

Evaluation of preservation status  (1) very good, (2) good, (3) regular, (4) bad (5) very bad.  For a good preservation of the population it will be necessary the presence of a minimum number of male and female plants. How many ?  Absence of male or female plants is enough to consider the state of preservation of the population as very bad.

Inventory of the specimen at the locations  the number and the sex of specimen existing in the population.
