INTRODUCTION TO FLASH CS5 Understanding the Workspace (Review: Animation Key Terms)

Review: Intro to Animation Key Terms Frame - contains an individual image Persistence of Vision - the illusion of movement created by rapidly moving still images Key Frame - where the beginning or ending positions of an object are placed

Review: Intro to Animation Key Terms Tween - frames between Key Frames Vector Image - resolution independent; created mathematically Stream - continuous movement

Intro to Flash CS5 Key Terms Vector graphic Streaming Flash Interface Terms Workspace Stage Timeline (Frames and Layers) Panels Tools

What is Flash? An interactive development tool Used to create games, apps, animations, websites, and simulations (short movies) Can incorporate pictures, sound, video, and special effects Creates vector images Can be streamed

The Workspace

The Stage  Contains all objects that are seen by the viewer in the final movie  You can draw objects on or import objects to the stage

The Timeline  Contains images within frames  Units of the timeline  Has separate layers  Has a playback head

Panels Grouped Docked Stand Alone

The Tools Panel  Panels are used to view, organize, and modify objects and features in a movie  Most commonly used:  Tools  Properties  Libraries

Properties Panel Used to edit documents size, background color, speed and other settings

Document Settings Modify > Document CMD J Used to edit documents size, set ruler units, edit background color, speed and other settings
