Style With Puritan writing almost all of it focused on religion and the idea of being “pure”. “It is true that Puritanism encouraged its believers to search their daily experiences, both physical and mental, for signs of God's workings in them and through them”. so most of the writings had a “old” style to them and a had very old traditional beliefs put in the writings

Figurative language and Devices "Of Plymouth Plantation" -William Bradford ● Symbol: ○ "When as that old serpent could not prevail by those fiery flames" ● Repetition: ○ "God" and "Satan" ● Hyperbole: ○ "What tears gush from every eye and pithy speeches pierced each heart"

Attitude The attitude towards puritan writing is very biblical due to their strict beliefs and it’s very negative towards anybody who would sin. For example, Hawthorne speaks negatively about Hester due to her sins that she has committed. Puritans speak very highly of their religion and their beliefs.
