Halogen Characteristics -Halogen contains the elements in group 17- Fluorine, Chlorine, Iodine, Astatine -All elements have 7 valence electrons -Most made with covalent compounds -When combining with another element is called a Halide -Often bond with metals in Group 1 -Highly Unstable -Tendency to form salts -Good oxidizers -Always found in nature chemically bonded
