Scotty was born on the 6 th of July 1994 in Melbourne. Scotty first competed in an international circuit in the 2008 European Cup is Switzerland. He has a Dad named Phil and a brother named Tim. He is 1.85m tall and weighs 78kg. He was the youngest competitor in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games. He was the youngest male Olympian in 50 years. He spent nine months travelling the world. He started to ski at the age of one and then started to snowboard at the age of three. Scotty started competing at the age of six. At the age of 14 Scotty was the best junior snowboarder.

What does Scotty James need to do to prepare for his sport. It takes-7 years and 2 weeks to train for the Olympics, they have to prep their snowboard and make shore that they have everything they need to do their sport. Scotty also likes to listen to music before he has his event Winter Olympic Games Scotty competed in the men's half pipe and came 10 th. He also competed in the men’s slop style and came 8 th. Who inspires you? Scotty sport hero is for Floyd Mayweather Jr. He is an American professional boxer, currently undefeated as a professional. He is a five-division world champion, having won eight world titles and the lineal championship in three different weight classes.

What inspires you to do snowboarding? My personnel motto “Pain is temporary”-Scotty James Scotty family went to Mt. Bulla ever weekend since he turned three. He started skiing and he didn’t like it but nether did his ski school. His dad was a snowboarder and he motivated Scotty to start snowboarding and he never stoped.

What sacrifices did you have to make to get to such a high level? When Scotty was younger he had to compete with the older kids when he was the younger kid. They used to call him the grommet. So when he was younger he never got to compete with people his age because he was to good. He never looks back only forward. He also has to spend a lot of time on the snow.

History of Snowboarding and Australia's involvement in it. The first era of snowboarding was People would tie plywood or wooden planks from logs to their feet using fishing string and horse reins in order to steer themselves down hills. Modern snowboarding start in 1965 when Sherman Poppen, an engineer in Muskegon, Michigan, invented a toy for his daughters by tying two ski’s together and attaching a rope to one end so they would have some control as his daughters stood on the board and glided downhill. Sherman decided to make a company that makes snowboards. They sold a million snuffers (snowboards) in the decade. In the 1970’s Poppen organized snurfing competitions at a Michigan ski resort. Tom Sims(the creator of skateboards) created a new still of snowboard were he glued carpet to the top of a piece of wood and attached an aluminium sheeting to the bottom. He produced more in the 70’s. Next they made the snowboards out of wooden planks that were flexible and had water ski foot traps. People wouldn't buy snowboards because the cost to much($38). The first competitions to offer prize money were the National Snurfing Championship, held at Muskegon State Park in Muskegon Michigan.

History of the sport and Australia's involvement in it. During the 1970’s and 1980’s as snowboarding became more popular, people such as Dimitrije Milovich, Jake Burton Carpenter (founder of Burton Snowboards), Tom Sims (founder of Sims Snowboards), Chuck Barefoot (founder of Barefoot Snowboards) and Mike Olson (founder of Gnu Snowboards) came up with new designs for boards and mechanisms that slowly developed into the snowboards and other related equipment that we know today. In 1983, the first World Championship halfpipe competition was held at Soda Springs, California. The International Snowboard Federation (ISF) was founded in The United States of America Snowboard Association (USASA) runs snowboard competitions in the U.S. today, some snowboarding events are the Winter X Games, Air & Style, US Open, Olympic Games and other events that get broadcasted worldwide. 6.6 million people started snowboarding in There was 8.2 million snowboarders in the USA and Canada for the season.

The Australian snowboarders. This year we had Cam Bolton, Torah Bright, Belle Brockhoff, Kent Callister, Holly Crawford, Jarryd Hughes, Scotty James, Nathan Johnstone, Stephanie Magiros, Alex “Chumpy” Pullin and Hannah Trigger all compete in the snowboard in Sochi. Snowboarding Parallel Slalom: This is almost exactly like the slalom from the Alpine Skiing competitions. The Parallel slalom see two snowboarders race down identical parallel courses with the winner scoring the most points in the best time. The Giant slalom are the exact same thing as the normal parallel slalom except the course is wider. Snowboard Cross: This is the Cool Boarders course, as obstacles are in the way as snowboarders try to get down the hill with the best time and the most points they can get. Slopestyle: This is the same thing as the Snowboard Cross except there are less obstacles and more quarterpipes to gain momentum and perform tricks. Halfpipe: A snowboarder heads down a halfpipe course(a cylinder cut in half) with the only goal being to gain the most amount of points possible.
