ENG1121J Final Exam PART A — Sight Poem (20 marks) Provide a detailed analysis of the following poem. You may comment on such things as imagery, symbolism, speaker, diction, structure, tone, tropes, rhyme, and so on. Avoid merely paraphrasing the poem. Write your answer in essay form. PREPARATION: POETRY Revise the concepts and terms we studied and be ready to use them for a poem analysis. Reread ALL the poems on the reading list (consult the syllabus). Try to remember something about each of them (a memorable image, the voice, a special trope, etc.). Think what you like and dislike, and why.

PREPARATION: DRAMA Revise the four plays. Make sure you remember the major events of the plot, central characters, setting, etc. Think about the plays’ genres. What makes a play a comedy/a tragedy/a drama? What is funny/heartbreaking/thought-provoking/cathartic in them? Try to remember telling details or even memorize a short quote or two that could be used for a variety of topics.
