Module 2.6 Adding Two Digit Numbers Hundred Chart

Point to 35 If we move right one square, how does 35 change? If we move down one square, how does 35 change? Adding Two Digit Numbers Hundred Chart

How many jumps of one do you make to move to 35? How many jumps do you make to move from 35 to 55? Adding Two Digit Numbers Hundred Chart

Point to 62 If we move right one square, how does 62 change? If we move down one square, how does 62 change? Adding Two Digit Numbers Hundred Chart

How many jumps of one do you make to move from 62 to 66? How many jumps do you make to move from 62 to 92? Adding Two Digit Numbers Hundred Chart

What is the total of these two prices? How could you figure it out? Adding Two Digit Numbers Hundred Chart

One way of figuring out the total is to split one of the numbers into tens and ones and add each part to the other number. Fifty-six is the greater number so we could start with 56 and add the tens and then the ones in 23. Adding Two Digit Numbers Hundred Chart

Put your finger on 56. How many tens does 23 have? So we add 56 plus 20. How many ones does 23 have? So we move three squares to the right of 76. Adding Two Digit Numbers Hundred Chart

= = 79 Adding Two Digit Numbers Hundred Chart

Add the ones first and then the tens. Compare to your previous results.
