SAIL BOATS By: Jason Cooper

Sail boats Sail boats carry passengers or cargo. For nearly 5,000 years, all boats and ships were driven by oars, paddles, or sails.

Sailing Sailing requires great skill. Sail boat sailors learn how to read the wind.

Parts of a Sailboat Like any boat, a sail boat has a hull. The hull gives the boat its shape beneath the sails. The mast or masts are poles built onto the deck.

How a Sailboat Works sails are slightly curved to catch wind. A sailboat can also sail forward into the wind if it can find the proper angles.
