VENDING MISERS Dennis Vu

The production of electricity causes more damage to the environment than any other single human activity. Key culprit in global climate change Electricity use accounts for 35 percent of U.S. carbon dioxide emissions

The two major energy- consuming systems are lighting and refrigeration Lighting accounts for roughly a third of machine energy use. Cooling the vending machine accounts for the remaining two-thirds VENDING MACHINES

Cool less than half the volume of a home refrigerator, yet may use more than five times as much energy. Uses almost 3500kWh per year That is an average of almost 0.4 kWh per hour. Each machine responsible for 4500 lbs of CO2 emissions per year. VENDING MACHINES

Uses motion sensor to detect occupancy in the space Reduces energy consumption and CO2 emission without compromising the vended product monitors ambient room temperature while the vending machine is powered down

Affordable: $160 Simple external plug-and- play (5 minutes) Tested & approved by major bottlers Compatible with all cold drink vending machines

582 soft drink vending machines. Savings up to $65,000 Reduce 590 tons of CO2 emission a year. Reduce the maintenance costs and extend the life of the vending machine. Payback time between one to two years
