Wrightstone Immigration from Germany

Original Family name was Richstein

Richstein Immigrated from Hannover, Germany

Wrightstone Immigration

Arrived in Philadelphia like most Germans at the time. They settled in German Town.

During the census of 1790 there were two Richstein families living in Berks County.

In addition, ship logs from 1798 and 1803 report Richsteins as passengers to the New World.

They migrated from Germantown to Northern York County to learn English, after spending several generations living in the Germantown area.

Family migrated from Germantown to Northern York County to learn English, after spending several generations living in the Germantown area.

John Wrightstone (my Great-Great-Great-Grandfather) lived in Siddensburg, and fought in the Civil War. John fought for the Union, and fought the battle of Bull run, fought in the Wilderness Campaign, and he fought at the Siege of Vicksburg. John served under General George B. McClellan, and named his son after the General.

My ancestors would definitely be considered “old immigrants” because they arrived in America in the late 1700’s or early 1800’s, which is much earlier than most immigrants. My ancestors arrived in America in the late 1700’s or early 1800’s. They got here on a boat that carried only Germans. My ancestors originated in Hannover, Germany. My ancestors came to America because they looked to better their lives because America had much to offer as far as the amount of jobs and the freedom.
