What Does a Plant Need?

Needs of Plants Like all living things, a plant has certain needs. They need air, water, energy from food, and a place to live. However, unlike animals, green plants make their own food. To make food, plants need light, water and the gas carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is a gas in the air.plant

Parts of a Plant Plants are made up of different parts. Each part plays a role in helping a plant get or make what it needs to survive.

Parts of a Plant A plant cannot live without leaves. Leaves make most of a plant’s food. Roots take in some of the materials a plant needs to make food. The stem carries food, water, and other materials to and from the roots and leaves. A plant needs all three parts – leaves, roots, and stem – to live, grow, and stay alive.
