Quarry Bend The Bend of Hazards Written by Dustin Allen Pictures by Dustin Allen Copy Right 2013

L ets start at the beginning of the bend. See all toughs trees way back there? Well they use to go all the way up to the side walk. Now they cut the trees down to make a bank. More pavement which means less place for rain water to seep into the ground. Flood danger anyone?

C ontinuing down the bend you can see more property for sell to be paved over as well as a small hill with very dry grass. This looks like a fire waiting to happen.

P ast the small hill to the left is a baseball field as well as a small playground for the kids. There is at least a drain system for the future flood. They really do encourage flood water to go where the kids play.

A t last we are at our destination. Walmart! Look at all the cars! Cars mean people, people mean hazards. Lets look into this in more detail kids.

W hat’s this I see ? A BIGGER hill right behind the store. What Hazards could this hold? Mud slides? Fire? Lets go see what is behind the store!

B ehind the store is a lot of pavement with a small little wall to hold all that sand back. How many drains can you see? What is on the hill?

I s that a house? Way up on the hill of sand? The wise man built his house upon a rock. Hopefully that house will last in an earth quake.

The end
