The Christian’s Eternal Life John 6:48-58

Jesus Came to Give Life to Sinners “In Him was life…”, John 1:4 “water springing up into everlasting life” John 4:13-14 “have life…more abundantly”, John 10:10 “I am…the life”, John 14:6 “...authority…to give eternal life” John 17:1-4

1 John 5:11-13 God’s gift, 5:11 In His Son, 5:11 Have life when you have the Son, 5:12 Believers are assured by faith, 5:13

When?

Eternal Life is a Present Reality for the Christian

Possessing Eternal Life Equates to Abiding in Christ John 6:53-58 Real possession now Not yet fully realized in presence of God “Truly, truly” (most assuredly), John 6:47

Eternal Life is also the Christian’s Hope

Eternal Life can be Forfeited by Returning to Sin (Heb. 6:4-6) We must… Guard ourselves, Jude 20-21 Hear and follow Jesus’ voice, Jno. 10:27-29 Sow to the Spirit, Galatians 6:7-9 (5:22-23) Steadfast to the end, Hebrews 3:12-15 Do not change God’s word to fit ourselves, Revelation 22:19
