The Sumererian’s built dikes, or dams made of earth. They carefully watched their crops. The Sumerian’s were among the first to use wheeled carts to carry their crops and other things. They knew that failure to produce enough food would bring disaster.

Sargon continued his conquests beyond Sumer. Sargon carefully selected people to govern the city-states. Sargon ruled the Akkadian Empire for 56 years. After his death, the empire lasted more than 200 years.

Babylonian people were their centralized government. The laws of Babylonian was put together in about 1790 B.C. Babylon looked for new ways to govern their empire. The Babylonian Empire was governed under a single authority.

The Kassites tried to take over the Babylon for many years. The Hittites robbed the Babylon city of its riches. Among these were the Kassites from what is now Iran. When the Hittites left with their stolen treasure, the Kassites finally took over Babylon.

In condition, the Assyrians developed many of their innovations. By the early 700’s the Assyrian army was the largest standing army. The Assyrian’s calvery fought on horse back. There were foot soldiers also.

Free of the Assyrians, Babylon again became the center of civilization. It is often called Neo-Babylon because neo means new. Nebuchadnezzar was one of the Neo Babylonian empire’s. He built a major palace.

The Hittites were my favorite because they were the first to invent chariots. The Kassites on the other hand were weak and wanted to take over the Babylonian Empire but they couldn’t. The Assyrian took over the Babylonian Empire. When the Neo- Babylonian Empire became they were the center of civilization again. After Sargon the great died his kingdom continued for more than 200 years. The Sumerian Empire built dikes, or dams made of Earth.
