Abstract Art and Geometric Shapes

TURN TO YOUR NEIGHBOR TALK ABOUT WHAT YOU THINK ART IS! WHERE DO YOU SEE ART IN YOUR LIFE? Turn and Talk!

What is Art? Art is the physical expression of the standards formed by the mind. Art is also the creation of works of beauty or other special importance. Art is the physical expression of the standards formed by the mind. Art is also the creation of works of beauty or other special importance.

What do you see in this picture?

What kind of lines do you see here?

How many colors are used in this?

NOW ITS YOUR TURN!!

You are going to create your own Abstract art using the cut out geometric shapes I provide to you! Try to use as many different types of geometric shapes and colors as possible!! Glue them to the paper provided and do not worry about making them into anything in specific!

After you use the geometric shapes to make your Abstract Art look at your art and see if it looks like any thing in particular. Does it remind you of anything? How does it make you feel? Once you figure out what it looks like you will write a brief summary to go with your art! In this summary you will explain your Abstract Art and what it represents. Include the different types of shapes and colors you used in your art.
