1 Styrogami foam art Essential Question: What is Styrogami and what am I going to be expected to do for this project?

2 Styrogami 1.Styrogami is the art of using Styrofoam to make works of art. 2.Can also be made with recyclable products.

3 Styrogami Artist: 1. J. Jules Vitali has spent 23 years developing and perfecting Styrogami, which now exists in a number of forms. Each one of these delicate creations is sculpted from a single cup. The whole cup is utilized, nothing is thrown away.

4 2.Every piece that has been sculpted has come from a "found" cup, meaning it was acquired from some source other than purchase. 3.Styrogami is an art of expression, not one of perfection.

6 Abstract Art: 1.Art that does not represent reality, but seeks to achieve its effect using shapes, forms, colors, and textures. 2.The work of art is not anything that is recognizable as being a certain thing that is known

7 Steps to achieve Styrogami:
Step 1: Thumbnail sketches of 2 different ideas using: 1.Positive and Negative space- space that is taken up and space that is empty. 2.Lines- different types of lines 3.Shapes- Different shapes, geometric or organic 4.Form- creating something that is 3 dimensional

8 1.Practice cutting shapes and lines out of a styrogoam cup.
Step 2: 1.Practice cutting shapes and lines out of a styrogoam cup. 2.You must think about POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE SPACE.

9 Step 3: 1. Create one of your approved drawings using Styrofoam cups and an xacto knife. 2. You will cut out your pieces and attach them using slits in both pieces or glue.

10 3.DO NOT WORRY, I WILL DO A DEMO WHERE YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY ATTENTION.
4.You will make sure your project can stand on its own and you will use VARIETY.

11 Step 4: 1. After you are done building your project, you will gently draw Zentangles on parts of your work using a sharpie. 2. You will not draw zentangles on every piece. You will BALANCE your zentangles on some pieces throughout.
