T-4 Entering Data, Setting a Window, and Histograms Calculator Steps and Instructions

Entering Data Into a List 1.Press STAT then ENTER 2.Type in your data and press ENTER after each one – To clear an entire list, – highlight the name of the list (ex. L1) then hit CLEAR then ENTER – Do NOT hit DELETE! Always double check that your information is accurate!

Setting a Window 1.Press WINDOW – X-min: make this value a little smaller than your smallest x value – X-max: make this value a little bigger than your biggest x value – Xscl: this is what you count by on the x-axis For a histogram, it tells how wide the bars will be Try to use nice numbers like 1, 2, 5, 10, 25 or numbers ending in zero

Setting a Window – Y-min: make this a little smaller than your smallest y value For histograms, this should always be -3 since you don’t have any y-values! – Y-max: make this a little bigger than your biggest y value For histograms, this value is usually between 5 and 20; you need it to be high enough to see the tallest bar – Yscl: 1

Making a Histogram on the Calculator 1.Enter data into a list 2.Hit 2 ND Y= then hit ENTER on Plot 1 3.Highlight “On” and hit ENTER 4.Go down to Type then over to the third choice and hit ENTER 5.Go down to the list and tell the calculator where the information is (Ex. L1) 6.Set your Window 7.Hit GRAPH
