Professional Goals Personal Professional Development Planning—Think about your needs for Subject Area learning LIKE DON'T LIKE DO WELL DON'T DO WELL

Professional Goals One of the most important and significant professional development activities you can engage in is collaboration with others. As you plan, consider ways that you and other teachers can collaborate.

Professional Goals Excellent teachers— Must know the subject matter well and be passionate about it. Without mastery and clarity of thought, it would be difficult to explain clearly to students. Are able to relate the subject matter and demonstrate its relevance to students. Arouse the students' interest in the subject matter. Help students interact with the subject matter and learn for themselves.

Professional Goals Excellent teachers— Are eager to learn more ... attending seminars, reading books, etc Seek to improve on their teaching Evaluate their teaching each time ... reflecting on what worked, what did not and how to teach better the next time.

The Best Profession! He who opens a school door closes a prison. -- Victor Hugo The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires. -- William Arthur Ward My joy in learning is partly that it enables me to teach. – Seneca A teacher affects eternity. No one can tell where his influence stops. -- Henry Adams To me the sole hope of human salvation lies in teaching. -- George Bernard Shaw
