RAFTING Slovenian rivers offer exciting yet safe rafting adventures. The most suitable river for rafting is the Soča, a clear, emerald-green river flowing through a beautiful valley. You can also experience adrenaline- boosting raft rides in the company of a guide on the upper part of the Sava, on the Savinja in Štajerska, on the Kolpa in Bela Krajina and on the Krka in Dolenjska. Rafting centres will provide all the necessary equipment and arrange transport back to the starting point.

VOLČJI POTOK ARBORETUM Volčji Potok arboretum is the most visited horticultural amenity in Slovenia. Arboretum manages the park, maintains its plant collection, produces plants in its own nurseries, runs a garden centre and does practical lands caping all over Slovenia. Over the last few years Arboretum Volčji Potok has become famous for its spring flower shows. Visitors from all parts of the country and from abroad come here to be fascinated by millions of daffodils, tulips and other spring flowers.

ŠKOCJAN CAVES The Škocjan Caves are the most important underground phenomenon in the Karst region and Slovenia. They are also among the most important caves in the world. Underground canyon of the river is so far the largest known underground canyon in the world. Velika and Mala dolina charm every visitor with its impressive depth of 163 meter sand a large diversity of flora and fauna. Features of the caves are extremely diverse stalactite forms including limestone pools, and larger stalactites in the Great Hall, with Giantstalag mites. Archaeological surveys showed that a man was living in caves and their surrounding areas since ancient times – from the Mesolithic, Neolithic, Bronze and Iron Age through antiquity and the Middle Ages to today.

VINTIGAR GORGE The Vintgar gorge is one of the most popular natural features in Slovenia. From Bled the route leads north towards the village of Podhom. All along the road there are clear signs for Vintgar, and then by local roads the route leads to the entrance to the gorge itself. The gorge has been arranged for visitors for more than a hundred years. Along then arrow passage, where the Radovna river thrashes loudly against its rocky confines, there are paths, galleries and bridges constructed in the rock. The trail runs through the 1600 m long gorge. The Radovna flows over cascades and rapids, and in clear pools it finds peace for a few moments. The Vintgar gorge ends at the delightful Šum waterfall, the highest river fall in Slovenia. At the water fall the trail leaves the Radovna and rises up a track heading south-east to the chapel of St Catherine above Zasip. From here there is one of the finest views over the entire area of Bled. One can find its way back pass St. Catherine's church and take a scenic walk across the meadows which offer marvelous views of Karavanke mountain range, the Ljubljanska valley, Bleda and its surroundings and Mt. Triglav.

SEČOVLJE SALTS FLATS The Sečovlje salts flats are the most salt flats in the Mediterranean. The salt is produced in the traditional way based on a 700-year-old method that harmonizes man and nature. Over the centuries, a unique habitat was formed for halophytic plants, animals and migrating birds. The cultural heritage, which reflects centuries of work by salt makers, is extremely rich. The park offers you walking and bicycle trails furnished within formation signs, salt production that runs year-round, most interesting from June to September when the crystallized salt is collected from the salt pans. Buildings with theatre showing films about the salt flat sand a viewing platform, bird watching. Fontanigge, the southern section of the park, is an area of exceptional natural significance where white herons stroll between the remains of salt makers’ houses and sea gulls fly over head. The Salt works Museum demonstrates the traditional medieval method of producing salt and a view of a traditional salt maker’s house. The two sections of the park, Lera (north) and Fontanigge (south), are separated by the Drnica River, and different entrances must be used. Guided tours for groups can be arranged in advance.

HYDRO SPEED The rivers Soča and Sava are ideal for the adrenaline-boosting sport of river boarding, also known as hydro speed. Hydro speed allows you a direct contact with the water because all that is between you and the river is a small 'river bob’ which you lie on with your upper body and grip firmly with your hands. Additional protective gear protects you from bump sand scrapes. The tourist agency offering hydro speed provides all the necessary equipment and a guide to ensure safety. It will also provide transport back to the starting point.
