Metalwork

Information about Metalwork Quick Facts Metalwork is a Three Year Course. It ends with the Junior Certificate Exam in 3rd Yr. There is a Higher & Ordinary Level It is divided into two parts: –Practical (Metalwork Room) Theory ( Classroom)

Students make things out of metals & plastics, including electronics. It exposes them to different applications of technology. They learn about design and use different machines, materials, tools and processes to make their projects.

Students learn about the following areas: Materials (Metals & Plastics) Processes Machining (Lathe, Drill, etc.) Plastic Forming (Bending, Moulding, etc.) Joining ( Soldering, Brazing, Screw threads) Hand Tools & Skills –(Measuring, Cutting, Material removal ) Projects –How to design, make and finish a project.
