Backyard Composting Starting Things Off In The Fall Paul Arnold, Acadia University

Main Message Fall is the best time to begin backyard composting Ample supply of leaves which provide the predominant supply of “Browns” (dry, carbon-rich material) Add “Greens (food waste, grass, nitrogen- rich material) over the year

Recipe Add one bucket of Greens to 3 buckets of Browns Add water to moisten (damp as wrung-out sponge) Turn (at least) monthly Harvest in months
