Syndromic Surveillance Data Submission EHR & MU for HIM Professionals Resource Patient Management System

Training Objectives Understand the MU objective and measure. Recognize authorized use and disclosure of PHI. Review required Data Use Agreements. Syndromic Surveillance Data Submission

Measure and Objective Capability to submit electronic syndromic surveillance data to public health agencies and actual submission in accordance with applicable law and practice. Perform at least one test of certified EHR technology’s capacity to provide electronic syndromic surveillance data to public health agencies and follow-up submissions if the test is successful. Syndromic Surveillance Data Submission

MU Measure Type of Measure: Attestation Syndromic Surveillance Data Submission

RPMS Reporting Logic Measure Inclusions: COUNT: eligible providers HAVING: performed at least one test of the certified EHR technology’s capacity to submit electronic syndromic surveillance data to public health agencies during the EHR reporting period AND HAVING: performed follow-up submission if the test was successful during the EHR reporting period Syndromic Surveillance Data Submission

RPMS Reporting Logic Measure Exclusion: EPs who do not collect any reportable syndromic surveillance information on patients during the EHR reporting period are excluded from this measure. Where no public health agency exists that has the capacity to receive information electronically during the EHR reporting period, the provider may be excluded from this measure and will have to attest to this in separate documentation to CMS.
