Perkins Funding  Congress passed a final FY 2015 omnibus appropriations bill in December  It will be in effect until Sept  Level funds the Perkins Basic State Grant at $1.118 billion

Administration’s Budget  Budget priorities for FY 2016  Includes $70.7 billion in discretionary spending for the Education Department  an increase of $3.6 billion, or 5.4 percent  Proposed $1.36 billion in mandatory funding for 2016 for America’s College Promise  $60.3 billion investment over 10 years, which would provide free tuition and fees for the first two years of college

Administration’s Budget  Proposed an additional $200 for CTE, but allocated funds to a “CTE Innovation Fund” to launch the “American Technical Training Fund  competitive grants to “support the development and operation of innovative, evidence-based job training programs in high-demand fields that provide a path to the middle class for low-income individuals.”  replaces expiring Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT)  would be jointly administered by Dept. of ED and DOL

Administration’s Budget  Perkins Basic State Grant formula funded program would not be increase  funded at $1.118 billion  National Programs would receive an additional $2 million  For technical assistance and evaluation support for American Technical Training Fund  funded at $9.4 million
