Housing Developments in Inwood, WV

Potential Pollutants Pesticides- used to provide healthy conditions for workers Petroleum Products- release oils into the soil Nutrients- fertilizers used for landscaping Solid Wastes- waste not disposed properly Construction Chemicals- paints, acids, cleaning solvents, etc. Other Pollutants- water runoff, spills, improper storage

Our Interview With Dan Ryan Builders What has your company done to help reduce run-off/erosion? – silt fence, filter, storm cords, diversion, stabilization, sediment traps How eco-friendly are your building materials? – average,/natural Jim Dorsey, land development manager

Storm Ponds Silt Fence Sediment traps

Conclusions In Conclusion: – More people in an area = larger effect on watershed – More houses in an area = larger effect on watershed – Our local watershed (Musselman/Mill Creek) is healthy by our data. – As more people move in and more houses are built, it is our responsibility to make sure that proper procedures are being followed to ensure the health of our streams.
