IDVR is a state-federal program whose goal is to assist people with disabilities prepare for, secure, retain or regain employment. Our Vision is: Your success at work means our work is a success. Our Mission is: Prepare individuals with disabilities for employment and community enrichment

This session will present an IDVR perspective on what factors need to be considered when selecting a suitable vocational goal. Some examples will be provided to assist in seeing how IDVR works with individuals to assist with vocational decisions. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.

 IDVR- Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation  VRC- Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor  VRA-Vocational Rehabilitation Assistant  Customer- refers to individual student or client of IDVR services  If you have a question about an acronym, please feel free to ask!

 A program to provide services for people with disabilities designed for the purpose of integration or reintegration into the workforce consistent with the individual's strengths, resources, priorities, concerns, abilities, capabilities, and informed choice

 1. Compatibility of disability with employment goal: *Discuss how the functional limitations of the customer's disabilities impact the customer's ability to perform the physical, mental and social requirements of the proposed employment.

 2. Skills, interests, aptitudes, and abilities, including any transferable skills.

 3. Market analysis (CIS, available jobs):  What is CIS?

 4. Economic expectations and potential for career growth (e.g. earnings, wages, benefits):

 5. Vocational strengths and weaknesses (e.g. interviewing skills, personal hygiene, behavioral issues, work experience, volunteer work, etc.):

 6. Customer financial issues (i.e. how the customer will support self (and family) during the completion of the IPE, especially if it involves long-term training):

 7. Informed customer choice, including how VR assisted the customer to gather information on possible employment goals and rehabilitation needs and how the decision was made:
