 Each month we will “unpack” a reading standard for Literary and Informational Texts. EXPECTATIONS

KEY LEARNING: INTERPRETING THE CCSS WILL INFLUENCE PLANNING FOR INSTRUCTION. Unit Essential Question: How do I interpret the Common Core State Standards in order to begin planning for instruction?

Lesson Essential Question: How does understanding CCSS1 in Literary and Informational Texts influence planning?

INSTRUCTION  College and Career Ready (CCR) 1: Read closely to determine what the text says explicitly and to make logical inferences from it; cite specific textual evidence when writing or speaking to support conclusions drawn from the text.

INSTRUCTION  Grade Specific Standards for Literary Text Read the KUD Literacy Organizer for a grade, looking carefully at the Know and Do column. Share out key information with the group.

ASSIGNMENT  Find opportunities for teaching CCSS 1 standards utilizing Literary and  Informational Texts in Storytown. Use Focus Skill charts and knowledge of texts. Place post-it notes next to selections. Complete chart with possible texts.
