CONIFEROUS FOREST by IKRAM HEJJAJ KHALLOUKI.

CARACTERISTICS Long and very cold winters. Abundant precipitation as snow. Coniferous forests predominate (pines, spruces…) There are mammals such as lynx, moose, deer, bear…

MAP OF THE CONIFEROUS FOREST Coniferous forests stretch cold in northern Europe, Asia and North America, and the tip of South America, between the territories occupied by temperate grasslands and tundra of the polar region.

CLIMATE The temperatures of the coniferous forests between 10 ° C and 20 º C in summer and -15 ° C and 5 º C in winter. Coniferous forests often cover mountainsides. Trees are tall and narrow, so snow will slide off the branches without breaking them.

FLORA Some of the species that inhabit coniferous forests are cold spruces, firs, larches, pines, birches, mosses and ferns as well. Usually found tall trees. Pine/Pinus pinea Abeto/ Spruce/Abies pinsapo boiss Pícea/Picea abies Tsuga/Tsuga canadensis

FLORA Fitzroya cupressoides Abies alba Mill Betula pendula Fitzroya cupressoides

SEQUOIA The Coniferous forest, located along the northern California coast, contains the largest life-form on Earth! The giant Sequoia trees are also the longest-lived life form on Earth.

FAUNA Animals best adapted to the vegetation of these forests are beavers, squirrels, porcupines, skunks, moose, marmots, hares, lynx, deer, rabbits, black bears and wolves. Beaver/Castor canadenses Skunk/mephitis Bear/ursus Reindeer o Rangifer tarandus

FAUNA Deer/Hippocamelus antisiensis rabbitt/Lepus Moose/ Platycerioum Wolf/Canis lupus
