Tool kit for making Carnival Instruments

First, talk about Carnivals then choose a theme.

Design stage After looking at some different carnival instruments, draw four different designs onto the basic templates in your booklets. Choose contrasting styles and designs for each instrument. Think about the different sounds each one can make, as well as adding colour and pattern.

Essential Tools and Materials required modroc toilet rolls empty milk cartons / drinks bottles masking tape paints and brushes scissors coloured tissue paper / newspaper / shiny paper / cellophane ribbon / string / twist ties assorted trays dried beans / rice

Your instrument could take on a variety of forms. Here are some ideas... Put beads into a carton and seal it. Tape a cardboard tube over the end. Apply strips of modroc over the entire structure. Shaker

Tambourine Drum Try discs or foil on sticks of dowel to create a rattling tambourine. Foil trays on top of open plastic containers make a good sound when hit with drumsticks! Xylophone Plastic tubes or wooden sticks can be combined with egg cartons to make a nifty little xylophone.

Decoration Don’t forget to add colours and patterns to your instrument! Try adding other decorative features, such as string, ribbon, glitter, fabric and feathers.
