Communication Plan Improvement CASS™ MASS™ Cycle M

The USPS Certification Department will add the following tests for Cycle M: CASS™ MASS™ Cycle M

CASS:  To validate a secondary of # 0, the match must be made to a high-rise exact record.  Software will be required to return the Preferred Alias as standard out-put.  Suite Link (Required for Cycle M) MASS:  Manufacturers will be required to spray the Intelligent Mail barcode for MASS testing.  Suite Link (Required for Cycle M) CASS™ MASS™ Cycle M

REQUIREMENT TO VALIDATE A SECONDARY OF #0 CASS™ MASS™ Cycle M To validate a secondary of # 0, the match must be made to a high-rise exact record and a significant leading zero in the secondary before you return ‘Y’ and footnote (AABB) otherwise you must return an ‘S’ and the appropriate footnote (AACC). You can not return a ‘Y” if you match on records with secondary of # 0 on default high-rise record or street records.

PREFERRED ALIAS CASS™ MASS™ Cycle M CASS software will be required to return the Preferred Alias regardless if the input address is the base or the Preferred Alias. Example: Input: 127 Bunker Hl (base) Output: 127 Bunker Hill (Preferred) Boston MA Boston MA 02118

SUITE LINK™ CASS™ MASS™ Cycle M All CASS/MASS software developers will be required to certify SuiteLink™ to be made available to their end users as an optional function.

INTELLIGENT MAIL BARCODE CASS™ MASS™ Cycle M All MASS manufactures will be required to demonstrate their ability to spray an IM barcode in CYCLE M. Manufactures will not have to spray the POSTNET barcode for testing. End Users, while not required to test the IM barcode will have the option to test the IM barcode in Cycle M. However if the requirement to spay the IM barcode for automated discounts is implemented by USPS during mid- Cycle, the end users will have to recertify and pay all applicable fees.
