BULLYING

What is a Healthy Relationship? You feel safe. You communicate well with each other. There is a sense of trust. Mutual respect. Encourage independence (doing things on our own). You have fun with each other.

Bullying and Conflict Bullying Intentionally hurtful. Involves power. Should always be reported. Conflict Not intentionally hurtful. Does not involve power. Should be worked out by the people involved.

Types of Bullying Physical Verbal Social/Emotional Cyber

Crumpled Paper Activity Bullying hurts and can impact someone for a long time. Bullying affects people in different ways, but no matter what, it is important to realize that hurting someone in any way is not acceptable.

How Does Bullying Make a Person Feel?

Reasons The bully is someone others look up to and want to hang out with.The bully is someone others look up to and want to hang out with. What if I am Bullying Someone? Admit it to yourself first. Tell an adult that you trust that you want to change your behaviour. Don’t label yourself as “mean” or “bad”, but work to do better the next time. Maybe someone else is hurting you so ask yourself why would you want to hurt someone else?

Pink Shirt Day Wednesday, February 26 th. Emphasizes the need for bystanders to assist those who are being harmed and to assist those who are doing the harming. Builds school spirit and better citizenship. Reminds us that we all need to do our part to help.
