Confident Christianity - Part 2 Distinguishing Practices 1 John 3: 4-10

 Practices that lead to success.  Practices that derive from the desires & condition of our lives

 What the practice of Sin:  Depicts  Demonstrates  Determines

 What Sin Depicts  A Lawless Life  Abiding where God is Absent

 What the practice of sin demonstrates.  Sightless & unaware of the savior  Matthew 7: “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

 Deception or Delusion  Settling for something other than God to Fulfill.  Believing we can substitute our will for His.  Missing the seriousness of sin.

 What the practice of sin determines.  Our true diabolical ancestry.  Decisions arise.

 Jesus’ presence is the prescription.  Appeared to “take away” sin.  Appeared to destroy the devils deeds.

 What the practice of Righteousness reflects.  Our desire to imitate Jesus  Our sufficiency is Jesus

 Why the practice of Righteousness remains.  Godly genetics  Distressed by depravity.

 Why are we not experiencing life as God intended?  May not be in the family  May not have developed the “discipline” to live godly daily.

 Cannot take sin lightly  Cannot practice to become holy.  Can practice to develop discipline for godliness. 1 Timothy 4:7 Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. NIV 1 Timothy 4:7 Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly.
