HISTORY :  During the cretaceous geological period the region was beneath the sea.  In lodging operations beginning in 1910 and lasting a quarter of the century thousands of cypress pine read bays trees were removed the swamp.  Moved 700 miles of territory this land mass was once thought to be inhabitable.

FACTS: The Okefenokee swamp is the largest swamp in North America. It was presumphiously created by wave action associated with an offshore sand bar. About 85% of the water leaving Okefenokee swamp is carried by the Suwannee river to the gulf coast to Florida. The Okefenokee swamp is South Eastern of Georgia.

climate: Sub tropical climate rainfall is 50 inches a year. 1,400 square miles of upland water shed. Winters are short and mild Night time temps are: degrees F Day time temps are : degrees F Summers are very hot and humid F and has a heat index.

LEGENDS: Some people believed that there were big foot sightings. This tell originated at near the south end of Ware county. As some people were walking thy made a startling discovery of gigantic foot prints. Few has disappeared from the swamp which led to investigation and mystery to big foot.
