HOW ARE WOMEN TREATED AND WHAT ARE THEIR DUTIES IN THE MUSLIM SOCIETY?

INTRODUCTION Muslim women are to be treated respectfully. They have certain responsibilities that a women under Allah’s power has to follow.

EXCLUSION AND S ECLUSION Women are usually excluded from public spaces and secluded in their homes. They may leave home with the permission or company of the male guardian and she must be covered.

GUARDIANS Women have male guardians that protects her and cares about her. This guardian can be a husband, father, brother or any other male relative.

WOMEN RIGHTS They have certain rights like inherit or own property. They also have the right to divorce. They have to be treated well by their husbands. They receive a certain amount of money from their husbands when they get married.

DUTIES They have three different types of duties: Religious Social Moral

RELIGIOUS Women should worship the only god Allah. They should go to religious ceremonies, but they can be exempted for feminine reasons.

SOCIAL They should not have lots of wealth from games of chance and alcohol is a misfortune and is called the work of Satan for this religion.

MORAL They need to be covered when leaving home or when they are present with some other person that is not a relative.
