Cairn Terrier  This terrier is very spirited, Loyal, and usually independent. It is also very friendly and alert.

Schipperke  This dog is very good for kids if you have them. Its very small, but loyal and alert.

Belgian Tervuren  This dog is a type of sheep dog. It is very smart and protective of their territory.

English Springer Spaniel  They are very friendly, even-tempered, have a lot of courage and are very sociable.

Miniature Schnauzer  This competitive dog is very feisty, but obedient. This dog is quite alert and perky.

Australian Cattle Dog  This cattle dog is very popular, and is used for herding cattle in Australia.

Rottweiler  Even though these dogs are vicious and fierce, they are often used for police forces, rescuing humans, and carrying heavy items.

Papillion  This dog is very popular for royalty. It is very smart and well groomed.

Labrador Retriever  This dog breed is one of the most popular of them all. It is useful for bomb sniffing dogs, to rescuing dogs.

Shetland Sheepdog  This dog is considered having the same level aptitude and intelligence as human beings.

Doberman Pinscher  This type of dog is very energetic, great for breeding and companionship.

Golden Retriever  They are great for companionship, guide dogs, hunting dogs, and rescue dogs.

German Shepherd  They appear as mean and vicious, but it all depends on how they are trained. These dogs are also used as police dogs.

Poodle  The poodle is also an intelligent dog and was mainly bred for water dogs. Now, they are obedient "show" dogs and are also used for hunting and rescuing.

Border Collie  This is the most smartest dog of all! It is fast and obedient, and to be happy it must work.

Summary  In conclusion, those are the reasons why those are the top 15 smartest dogs, border collie being the smartest of them all.
