28 January 2014: Planner check!!!  Do you think teen marriages can last?  Write 3 reasons to support your opinion.  Do you know someone who is involved in a teen marriage? Are they still together? What struggles do they have?

Group work  In groups of 5 or 6 read and annotate the article, “Can a Teen Marriage Last?”. ** Number each paragraph for reference.  Assign roles: scribe, mediator, idea generator (2-3), speaker.  Discuss the questions one by one in your group.  Write your group’s comments on a sheet of notebook paper.

Discussion questions  Discuss and write down the answers to these questions on a sheet of notebook paper. Make certain every group members’ name is on it. 1. What are the four reasons that Silvers states as reasons for teens to marry? Do you think any of these are valid? 2. Why do you think that 50-60% of teen marriages end in divorce? 3. What does Silvers advise teen couples to do before getting married? 4. What are the ideal circumstances to have in place before marriage? Do you agree? Why or why not?
