Born May 27, 1927 in McCloud, Oklahoma. But before he entered the war he lived in Riverside, California. In Riverside Tom attended Riverside Poly High School. While at Poly he only completed up to the 11th grade. He was then drafted January 21, Thomas (Tom) Watts.

Before the War Before Tom was even close to be going to war he was living in Riverside. Here he was friends with Ferns twin sister but did not notice Fern at all, until they started dating. He was also attending Riverside Poly High School. Tom was also working in construction before being drafted into war. Fern and her sister

Before Shipped To War After being drafted in 1943 Tom was sent to Fort McArthur in California. Soon later he was shipped to Texas for a 12 week basic training. Then sent to Louisiana where he went through training to become a medic (surgical technician) at the 127th General Hospital.

During The War. Tom entered active service January 28, 1943 in Fort McArthur. Through out the war Tom was stationed in France, Ireland (Liverpool in Oct. 17, 1943), Germany, Africa, and England (From Oct 1943-May 1944) but most of his deployment was served in Europe. He never saw combat, only worked in hospitals in a non-combat zone.

During War Continued During the war on D-Day. He was 40 miles away from the Battle of the Bulge. Then Shipped through the Suez Canal and went to the islands with all the soldiers as well.

During War Continued Tom went to Paris, France on a tour. He and the men, collected invasion money from many different places.

During War Continued Tom earned promotions such as raising three ranks I. Private II. PFC III. Corporal

Most Memorable Moment During The War While serving in France, a patient couldn’t be moved right away to do his leg that was, “pinned”. Tom Watts stayed with the patient for a while and took care of him until help could come. Tom saved his life by just staying with the man. The patient wrote Tom a letter expressing his gratitude.

After the War Tom saw and did a lot of things, but was glad to be home. He felt the military was good, and it was a good responsibility he went through, and after the war he was honorably discharged.

After the War Continued Fern and Tom Tom came home to Fern waiting for him and they then went to Las Vegas to get married. He didn’t stay in stay in the medic field, but he went back into construction. They together had 5 children.

In Memory Of Fern Watts Tom and Fern knew each other since middle school but were never close. She is one year younger than him. Then in 1942 they started going together, When he was gone, she worked at March Air Force Base. She also wrote him everyday and twice on Sundays. They ended up getting married April 20, 1946.They were married for 58 years. Fern passed away July 11, 2004
