Welcome To Care Group Evaluation Year of the Adult At Calvary Baptist Church

Calvary Sunday School’s Core Values 1. Reaching People for Christ & Church Membership 2. Teaching People God’s Word 3. Ministering to People 4. Involving People in Ministry 5. Assimilating People into the Body 6. Building Relationships with People

The Importance of Care Groups Church growth studies have shown that if newcomers do not develop at least seven new friendships within a few months, they will probably drop out and not return. Assimilation must be intentional, monitored, and personal. Every adult leader should view assimilation as a personal responsibility. This should apply not only to integrating newcomers into the class but also into the church as a whole. The more people new members are introduced to and ministries they are involved in, the more likely they are to remain active. Friendships and relationships may be the most important approaches to assimilation. People want to know that others are concerned about them. But trust and respect will not come just because we are church members. We have to prove we are trustworthy with lifestyles that match our words.

10 Reasons We Need Care Groups 1. To place people in a comfort zone. 2. To enhance member interaction. 3. To develop relationships. 4. To develop intimacy. 5. To assimilate new members.

Reasons We Need Care Groups 6. To follow up on visitors. 7. To provide a caring ministry. 8. To contact absentees. 9. To hold each other accountable. 10. To keep the church small.

Care Leader Ministry Description Responsibilities 1. Be responsible to care and minister to approximately 12 people in your class. 2. Aggressively pursue delinquent members to restore them to the fellowship. 3. Attend all Class Planning Meetings and Sunday School Leadership Meetings.

Care Leader Ministry Description 4. Lead the Care Group time on Sunday morning by taking attendance, discovering ministry needs, involving others in meeting those needs, assigning contacts, and praying for each other. 5. Lead your Care Group to minister to the needs of those in your Care Group.

Care Leader Ministry Description 6. Lead your Care Group to contact absentees on a weekly basis. 7. Involve the members of your Care Group to minister, contact and care for others within your Care Group throughout the week. 8. Take attendance of your Care Group members each week and coordinate the class roll with the class Secretary. 9. Actively participate in Calvary’s outreach program.

A properly structured Care Group ministry is an “other” ministry. Encourage One Another 1Thes. 5:11 Accept One AnotherRomans 15:7 Be Affectionate One Another Rom. 12:10 Honor One AnotherRomans 12:10 Greet One AnotherRomans 16:16 Serve One AnotherGal. 5:13 Bear One Another’s BurdensGal. 6:2

How to Organize Care Groups One Way To Organize Your Care Groups is Identify and List Class Members into Attendance Categories Another Way is to Organize Your Care Groups by Age

Class Care Group Time Each week the Care Group Leaders of the class have an opportunity to meet with their Care Group. During this time, they will: 1) Take the roll. 2) Assign absentee contacts to other Care Group members to make the following week. 3) Discuss the ministry needs of those in the Care Group and organize people to meet those needs. 4) Share prayer concerns and pray for each other.

Evaluation Time … the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. 1. Testimonies about care groups that are working? 1. What do we do with first time visitors? 2. What about visitors who are from out of town and will not be back? 3. What if someone brings a child to class with them? 4. What happens to the Care Group if the Care Group Leader is absent? What are some improvements that can be made?

Evaluation Time … the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. 1. Testimonies about care groups that are not working? What are some improvements that can be made?
