SLIDE 9 Region Disaster Recovery Response Region Disaster Recovery Response PNW Windstorm – –Winds in excess of 90 Mph (60+ Mph in Seattle) struck W. Wash. – –1 to 2 million homes/businesses lost commercial power (majority for 48 to 72 hours) – –VZW Results: At worst point, 60% of our cells (including 2 of 3 MSC’s) w/o commercial power - 87% of sites were operational Network carried 50% more traffic than normal Friday Baseline results for 2 days following the storm demonstrated VZW superior performance

Proprietary and Confidential Information of Verizon Wireless. No disclosure permitted without written permission. SLIDE 10 Fuel Cell Technology for Wireless Present StatusPresent Status –Most fuel cells on the market are 5 KW units and some can be configured into parallel systems to increase capacity –Fuel cell companies are working to increase the capacity of their systems. Other FactorsOther Factors –National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standards restricts where hydrogen storage tanks may be placed. –Fuel Cells cannot handle heavy inrush currents or “step loads” presented by compressors for air conditioning & microwave waveguide dehydrators.
