Matthew 4:18-22 – 18 While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. 19 And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men” …

Matthew 4:18-22 – 20 Immediately they left their nets and followed him. 21 And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them. 22 Immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.

Matthew 4:19 – 19 And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

Matthew 4:17 – 17 From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

1 Corinthians 1:26-29 – 26 For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong…

1 Corinthians 1:26-29 – 28 God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, 29 so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.

We need to follow the right person

Matthew 4:19 – 19 And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

We need to follow the right person Matthew 4:19 – 19 And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

We need to mend our nets

Matthew 4:21 – 21 And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them.

We need to mend our nets 2 Peter 1:10 – 10 Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to make your calling and election sure, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall.

We need to mend our nets 2 Peter 1:5-9 – 5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self- control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness…

We need to mend our nets 2 Peter 1:5-9 – 7 …and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. 8 For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ…

We need to mend our nets 2 Peter 1:5-9 – 9 For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins.

We need to mend our nets 1 Peter 3:15 – 15 In your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.

We need to cast our nets into the water

Matthew 4:18 – 18 While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.

We need to remember to think like fish

1 Corinthians 9:19-23 – 19 For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. 20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews…

We need to remember to think like fish 1 Corinthians 9:19-23 – 20 To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. 21 To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ)...

We need to remember to think like fish 1 Corinthians 9:19-23 – 21 …that I might win those outside the law. 22 To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. 23 I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.

We need to be ready to respond to opportunities

SHINE Matthew 5:13-16 – 13 “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet…”

We need to be ready to respond to opportunities SHINE Matthew 5:13-16 – 14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house…”

We need to be ready to respond to opportunities SHINE Matthew 5:13-16 – 16 “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

We need to be ready to respond to opportunities WELCOME 1 Corinthians 14:24-25 – 24 …an unbeliever or outsider enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all, 25 the secrets of his heart are disclosed…

We need to be ready to respond to opportunities WELCOME 1 Corinthians 14:24-25 – 25 …and so, falling on his face, he will worship God and declare that God is really among you.

We need to be ready to respond to opportunities WELCOME James 2:1-4 – 1 My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory…

We need to be ready to respond to opportunities WELCOME James 2:1-4 – 2 For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in…

We need to be ready to respond to opportunities WELCOME James 2:1-4 – 3 …and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, “You sit here in a good place,” while you say to the poor man, “You stand over there,” or, “Sit down at my feet” …

We need to be ready to respond to opportunities WELCOME James 2:1-4 – 4 …have you not then made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?

We need to be patient

Matthew 4:19 – 19 And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

Why did Jesus come to die? For the forgiveness of our sins Ephesians 1:7 – 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.
