 The Iditarod is a sled dog race that starts in Anchorage Alaska and ends in Nome Alaska. Sled dogs have been hard working for this race with there mushers. Introduction

 Every musher starts out with 16 dogs to start the Iditarod race. Dogs usually would have booties on there paws so they don’t get chapped. Mushers usually drop there dogs if they are tired or there paws are really chapped. The mushers privilege for them is taking care of their dogs. Dogs

 Hans Gatt is a great musher that grew up in Austria. Hans is 55 years old. After living in Austria, Hans moved to Whitehorse, Canada. Hans has seven puppies and 24 racing dogs. Beside mushing, Hans enjoys cross country skiing, dirt biking and mountain biking.

 Are there two routes on the Iditarod trail? Yes there are. There is the northern route and the southern route. The mushers take the northern route on even numbered years and the southern route on odd numbered years. The southern route has 26 checkpoints and the northern route has 27 checkpoints. The approximant mileage of the race is 1,049 miles. Routes
