to evaluate the influence of gold nanorods on morphological indicators of red bone marrow and peripheral blood of rats with diabetes and transplanted liver tumor after intravenous administration of gold nanorods. PURPOSE OF THE RESEARCH TEM imaging of gold nanorods

Materials and methods 48 mature outbred male rats Gold nanorods (GN) coated silica and functionalized hematoporphyrin. Synthesized in IBPPM RAS, Saratov (L= 102 ±12 nm, d= 75 ± 6 nm, r= 1,4 ± 0,2) Max extinction – 810 nm, 632 nm, optical density 20 3 experimental groups and comparison group of white outbred rats (12 animals per group) Alloxan diabetes Transplanted liver cancer PC-1 Alloxan diabetes +PC-1 Comparison group Intravenous injection of GN - 6 animals in each group Morphological and hematological studies of blood an bone marrow

48 white outbred rats weighing g were divided randomly into 4 groups of 12 animals per group: first experimental group - with alloxan diabetes, the second experimental group - with transplanted liver cancer, the third experimental group - with alloxan diabetes and transplanted liver cancer and the control group. Half of the rats in each group were injected intravenously gold nanorods in amount 2 ml with gold concentration 400 ug /ml. The withdrawal of the animal from the experiment was performed in 24 hours after exposure, bone marrow was taken by the standard procedure of the femur. The smears stained with May-Grunwald for the morphological study. The analysis of bone marrow smears performed under high magnification (x1000) with differential count of 500 cells. The blood analysis was conducted on hematological analyzer PCE-90Vet (USA). Design of experiment

The decrease of leukocytes (wbc), lymphocytes(lym) and platelets (plt) observed in animals of control group and group with diabetes after nanoparticle administration in blood test. BLOOD TEST

The decrease in hematocrit and hemoglobin index observed in animals of control group after nanoparticle administration and in groups of animals with diabetes and transplanted tumors, which may be a compensatory response to hypoxia in the tissues. BLOOD TEST: HGB, HCT

It was marked the decrease of the number of mature cellular elements of the leukocyte germ in bone marrow - stab neutrophils and segmented leukocytes, and the increase of immature elements- metamyelocytes, indicating the activation of leukocyte germ after nanoparticle administration. BONE MARROW EXAMINATION: LEUKOCYTE GERM

Conclusions The changes of morphological indicators of blood and bone marrow testify about stimulation of myelocytic sprouts of hemopoiesis in bone marrow as a result of reduction of mature cells in peripheral blood after gold nanoparticle administration.
